The Brecon Beacons National Park is situated in mid-Wales, and contains some of the most spectacular upland scenery in Britain. Covering an area of 1347 sq km (520 sq miles), over half of it is 1,000 ft above sea level. With 470 million years of geological history, the park has recently become part of a prestigious worldwide network of UNESCO Geoparks - the first National Park in the whole of the UK to be so designated. But rest assured, geology isn't the only thing that goes on there.
