Red Kite Feeding Station
Llanddeusant Red Kite Feeding Station amidst beautiful Welsh countryside attracts over 50 Red Kites and Buzzards every day in a spectacular aerial display. No need for binoculars, visitors can see at close quarters these fabulous rare birds of prey as they swoop down to feed.
Geocaching
Geocaching is a treasure hunt with a high-tech twist played by adventure seekers armed with GPS devices. The aim is to track and locate the hidden geocaches. The Brecon Beacons National Park has around 160 caches or treasure boxes hidden within it, all waiting to be found.
Big Pit
Visit a real coal mine and discover what it's really like to go underground. Learn about the Welsh black gold that fuelled the industrial revolution. Big Pit is an exciting and informative day out for all ages.
Craig-y-nos Country Park
A perfect place for a picnic. Over 40 acres of tall trees, rivers, ponds and gently sloping meadows to amble around. With a visitor centre and self guided trails and maps it's a great place to reconnect.
The National Showcaves Centre
Carved from limestone this stunning cave complex extends for at least 10 miles. Subterranean wonders include giant stalactites, stalagmites, rare helectites, flowstone, curtains and the weird Moonmilk.
Brecon Mountain Railway
Ride a vintage steam train from Pant, past Taf Fechan Reservoir, to Pontsticill Station with sweeping views of Pen-Y-Fan, Corn Du and Y Cribyn. Get up close to the engines in the shed.
Take to the hills
Stretch those growing legs on 1 of the Park's gentle family-friendly guided walks. Frequent rest points and sweeping views of the Park's many beauty spots make for an uplifting day out. Alternatively, you could download an audio trail to accompany your wanderings
Carreg Cennen Castle
Lay siege to this spectacularly sited medieval castle. Breaching the castle's defenses yields stunning views of the Black Mountain. Wales has many castles, but few can offer such a striking experience as Carreg Cennen.
Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal
The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal winds through the National Park and is now a quiet haven to walk along, take a day trip or hire a boat for a peaceful week. The Taff Trail cycling route runs along the first 2 miles from Brecon.
Goytre Wharf & Canal Visitor Centre
Star your day out at the Goytre Wharf & Canal Visitor Centre. There are children’s activities, exhibitions and events or you can go on a canal trip. The area around the centre has canal side and woodland walks where you can spot lots of wildlife.
Cantref Adventure Farm
Cantref Adventure Farm is the award winning, all weather farm park in the Brecon Beacons and is a fantastic day out for the whole family. Shows throughout the day including tractor rides and pig racing. Great indoor play facilities and café available.
