Music and Culture
Cardiff Summer Festival programme runs throughout July and August. From the colourful MAS carnival parade, to Open Air Theatre, The Children’s Festival and The Big Weekend, there’s no excuse to be stuck indoors.
Cardiff Castle
Set in the heart of the Welsh capital, the castle walls conceal plenty of history along with a newly opened interpretation centre. Events run throughout the year: midsummer evenings with Shakespeare, a Medieval Mêlée, Victorian Christmas as well as musical performances, lectures on art and architecture.
Roath Park and Lake
Burn off some energy at Cardiff's most popular park, this classic Victorian green boasts a wide variety of facilities. Perfect for picnicking, take a rowing boat out on to the Lake or a stroll around the immaculately kept Gardens.
Castell Coch
A true fairytale castle nestled in the woods, this Gothic fantasy was created by the brilliantly eccentric architect William Burges for the third Marquis of Bute, reputedly the richest man in the world in his day.
St Fagans - The Museum of Welsh Life
From Celtic times to the present, experience the life and culture of Wales at the country’s foremost open air heritage museum. Including houses, a farm, a school, a chapel, workshops and a splendid Workmen's Institute, education workshops run from spring - autumn.
Techniquest Science Museum
Get absorbed in the fascinating world of science and technology with a vast array of hands-on exhibits. Keep the whole family entertained: Fire a rocket; Test your reaction times; Race an electric car; Launch a hot air balloon; Watch a bubble race and much more.
Millennium Stadium
The home of Welsh Rugby, why not take a guided tour and see first hand one of Wales’ most iconic buildings. Built for the 1999 Rugby World Cup, the immense stadium has hosted everything from cup finals to major concerts. Just remember to keep off the grass.
