Where They Stayed Banner 2012

Where the Darkes family stayed

Hotels don’t always have to be hotel-shaped.
Much to the Darkes’ delight, sometimes they’re yurt-shaped too.
The Darkes put their heads down in a few places on their Welsh
adventure. All of them interesting for different reasons. Find out where they stayed or watch their journey on our Interactive Map.

Celtic Royal Hotel, Caernarfon

Celtic Royal Hotel

The Darkes spent a cosy few nights in the Celtic Royal Hotel. The best thing about it for the younger Darkes? By unanimous verdict - the pool. And the best thing about it for most other people? It’s a nice short stroll to Caernarfon Castle.

A Yurt on Shell Island, Llanbedr

A Yurt on Shell Island

Yurt and luxury. You wouldn’t think the two things go together. But the Darkes will promise that they do. We got Eco Retreats from nearby Machynlleth to set up a yurt camp for them on Shell Island. Dawn was especially thrilled and was “really blown away”. So can you be if you contact them.

The Felin Fach Griffin Inn, Brecon

Griffin Inn

Eat, drink and sleep. It’s a simple offering at The Felin Fach Griffin. But it definitely works. Their beds are so comfortable that guests have even offered to buy them. Richard and Dawn did the eat and drink bit. While the kids added some Jenga playing into the mix. You can do the lot.
