Meet the Darkes family
Say hello to the Darkes. Mum Dawn, dad Richard and kids Jacob, Alfie and Lois.
After a bit of bad luck with a packaged holiday, we brought them here, to Wales.
We followed them too. Not in a weird way. But because we wanted to let you see
what a proper holiday feels like. They do it better justice than a guidebook ever could.
Day trip to Portmeirion
Our very own Italianate resort on the coast of Snowdonia. Everyone's heard of the village, but have you ever been? Richard and Dawn hadn't seen anything like the Mediterranean inspired buildings before, luckily there's also plenty of shops, gardens and ice cream to keep the rest of the family interested too.

Sleep in a yurt on Shell Island
Eco Luxury. Two words you don't hear together very often. It definitely works though. Especially when you’re adding a furnished yurt into the mix. Setting up camp just a stones throw away from the ocean helps. As does throwing some fine Welsh black beef on the BBQ.

Bushcraft in Snowdonia
Give Bear Grylls and Ray Mears a run for their money. Catch your own dinner. Clean and prepare it. Cook it on a fire you built from scratch. Add a squeeze of lemon and enjoy. Then take a nap in a hammock under the shelter you also built from scratch. That's what Bushcraft is all about.
